3/22/2010:
Hannah is now 2 and continues to amaze us as she grows and develops. She is a crazy daredevil. She loves to hang on the highest bar at the playground and fearlessly jumps off into her Daddy’s arms. She seems to be very right brain oriented (artistic, imaginative, etc) which will probably be an area of frustration for her left brained engineer parents. J She knows all of her colors and recognizes some letters, but has absolutely no interest in numbers or time. She loves to read and she gets to pick out library books about once a week.
2/16/2010:
Hannah had her two year appointment today. I thought she would have a bunch of shots, but it turns out that she only needed a flu shot and the big shot appointment is the 4 yr one. At least I have awhile before I have to stress about that. :) She is 26 lbs 2 oz (43rd %), 33 1/4 in (31st %), and has 46 cm head circumference (13th %).
She is talking up a storm, using mostly full sentences. She loves artsy things like coloring and painting and is quite creative. She is just starting to actually sing the real words to songs instead of just doing actions, which is a lot of fun. I recently bought her a couple 24 piece puzzles that she seems to enjoy though she can't quite do them alone yet.
- Here is her 18 to 24 month collage, Collage.
- Here is a video of her signing, Video (.wmv) - takes about 30 seconds to download on my cable connection.
5/28/2009:
Hannah had her 15 month checkup today. 23 lbs, 31 inches. Still has some good thunder thighs but has slimmed up since she's starting running everywhere. I've attached a couple photos of her. She is very independent. Likes to feed herself, plays well by herself for short periods of time, isn't afraid to protect the things she's playing with by biting the offending child (we're working on that), and loves to mimic our foster daughter. I have a feeling Hannah will be a little lonely after she has left, but new baby #2 will come along soon enough. She is a little behind on speech and we blame that on her recurrent ear infections since Jan. She had tubes put in about a month ago and already we have noticed an improvement in her attempting to mimic our words. She doesn't have much difficulty communicating with us without words and knows quite a few sign language signs for important things like milk. The words she does say include "uh oh", "hi", and "ball". She only says something remotely like ma-ma when she is crying because we have told her no. :( We have started letting her take naps in the twin bed in her room instead of the crib and she seems to be adjusting to that well. We hope to move her out of the crib before baby comes in Nov.
2/9/09:
Baby Moehring In a lot of ways, this year took forever and in other ways, the year flew by. We've tried to enjoy as much of it as possible (and laugh when it wasn't enjoyable) and its been amazing to see how our little helpless baby has grown into a very independent little 1 yr old. She loves to feed herself and often occupies herself with her toys. She likes to show you what she has been doing though, so you have to stay close by even when she doesn't necessarily want you to play with her. :)

She loves to climb on everything and has recently taken her first independent ventures into the backyard (through the dog door). She loves Hercules and he is very patient with her even when she sticks her fingers in his eyes and pulls his ears. We've begun to see some of her personality traits come out, especially the ones we wish we hadn't passed on to her. She likes to figure things out, but when things don't work the way she thinks they should, she gets a little impatient (from mom) and frustrated (from dad). Hopefully, we'll figure out a way to encourage the good behaviors and work on getting rid of our own bad ones.

She got 4 teeth over Christmas which brings us to a total of 6. She has been having problems with ear infections since early Jan, so we may end up having to put some tubes in. She signs a couple of words including 'milk', 'more', and 'all done' as well as waving hello and goodbye and clapping anytime anyone says "yay". I think she would do more if I would do more, but I'm not very disciplined (and I need to learn more signs).

She had her one year well visit today and she is roughly 50th percentile across the board. Just an average kid!
Hannah is 9 months old (11/9/2008) and just had her well-visit!

She weighs 19 lbs, is 29 inches tall, and determined to walk in the very near future. We got her a little toy lawn mower that she can pull up on and she pushes it all around the house making a little razzing noise. She was a ballerina for Halloween and has been having fun socializing with the kiddos in our neighborhood in the afternoons. She loves to babble and just recently got her first two bottom teeth.

We'll be making a trip to North Dakota to see her new cousin, Rhiley, for Thanksgiving so she will be seeing snow for the first time in a couple weeks. We'll be in the SA area for the Christmas and New Year's break, so if you'd like to get together with us, let us know.

6 months (8/11/2008)

Today Hannah had her 6th month appointment. Unfortunately, she's been congested and running a fever over the weekend so we found out she has an ear infection in both ears. I think we've been incredibly blessed since this is really the first time she's been sick, hopefully now that we're on the antibiotics, the trip to Missouri won't be too hard on her. We delayed her 6 month shots until we get back and are sure the ear infections are cleared up. We're having a hard time dealing with her being in pain and not being able to help her very much. Just have to hold her and love her.

For good news, she is sitting up all by herself and has very good control. She's very inquisitive and notices new things very quickly. She has recently been very interested in jewely and I've actually been wearing more because its easier to make sure she doesn't pull so hard that she will break it. She likes to eat/lick her toes. She is rolling both ways and will usually start on one side of the room and quickly make it to the other side. She loves to stand up and I think she'll be cruising (holding on to the furniture to walk around) very soon. She also has very good focus, she will watch a full espisode of a TV show or play with a single toy and check out all its sides (and flavors). She has huge thunder thighs but I think those will disappear soon.

She is 17.13 lbs, 27 inches and in the 90th percentile. She's beautiful.
Bullet 3 month Announcement

18 wks (6/16/2008)

Schedule:
She doesn’t have a strict one.
Usually, she will eat, play for about an hour, nap for about 30-45 min, play for awhile again, then start over.

- She makes this coughing sound usually when she is hungry and sometimes when she is sleepy.

Favorite thing to do:
Lay on her back and grab her toes.
Make high pitched squealing noises.

Favorite toy:
Stuffed pooh bear, she likes to stick it in her mouth

Trying to get her to learn:
How to roll from her back to her stomach (she is almost there)
How to hold her bottle

Tummy time:
Starting to push up on her knees (with her head smashed into the floor), it makes her mad

Food:
Breast milk only, about 5 ½ oz per feeding.
She likes it kind of warm but it doesn’t need to be hot.

Naps:
We try to limit the pacifier to naps and has a little blanket that she usually pulls over her head. Sometimes you have to give her the pacifier a couple times before she settles down and falls asleep.
4/10/2008: I am two months old now. I had a checkup yesterday and had to get 5 shots. That made me mad. I weigh 12.6 lbs and am 23 inches long. I have grown out of the newborn clothes and can fit comfortably into most of my 3 month outfits. I can hold my head up and support my weight on my legs as long as mommy helps me with my balance. I have figured out that I have hands and am starting to try to reach for things, but I don't always get my arm going where I want it to. I am smiling most of the time and starting to make some cooing sounds.

Mommy starting working again two weeks ago and everything is going well. Daddy stays home with me on Wednesdays (and I don't have to take naps).
