What The Kids Have Been Up To

Normally these would all be separate posts, but I’m behind and lazy. 😉

The kids have been working hard on two craft projects for quite some time now and finally finished them so I could show them off:

Ben

We moved Ben into a toddler bed! And I had to get out 24mo clothes for my “little” 16 mo old.

Ben was “helping”, it was really cute.

So far he napped in it earlier after I went back in and put him back down once. And he crashed out no problem tonight. He was pretty tired though. It will be fun to see if he gets up and wanders around like Hannah did.

School is going well.
Hannah is about halfway through the pre-k handwriting program I’m doing.

These are all the letters we have worked on so far. I think we might need to go back and work on a few of them some more. Up until just yesterday, I couldn’t get her to write any diagonal lines, but we did R yesterday and K today and she did well so that is exciting.

At the end of this week we will be 1/3 of the way through the Pre-K Sonlight program. Last week we read Emperor’s New Clothes, Ugly Duckling, The Nightengale, The Selfish Giant, and Jack and the Beanstalk.

We had a bit of a “Spring Break” with the kids trip to Texas but when we got back into our routine Hannah told me she was waiting to do school. 🙂

Our most recent science experiment is growing a potato plant. I was going to do a bean since we read Jack and the Beanstalk, but I didn’t have any beans handy and I saw another homeschooler blog about doing a potato this way recently, so was intrigued. (Her Post) Will update more on that later when it grows (hopefully). Hannah told Nate that we were going to plant it outside when it gets big, but I don’t think I’m up to the task. I will end up killing it and Hannah would be sad.

On the daddy front: Nate has decided that he needs to round out her education and start teaching her how to program in LabVIEW already on the day that he is home. He also helps with the science and social studies stuff. 😉

  1. I’m glad you liked the idea! We grew some lima beans in one of those mini-greenhouses you can get at a home improvement store, and it was wonderful! I think I’ll make a post on that too. 🙂

    1. No, 🙁
But my husband was very successful with a garlic clove. My dad said that you should cut it in 4ths. Not sure why that would matter. My hubby thought maybe it needed more light.
