A PE Co-op?

We joined a Christian physical education homeschool co-op. I actually heard about it after the signup date, but they let us in anyway because I was able to make it to the orientation. We meet twice a week from October through April into the first week of May. So far, it really hasn’t been too hot and its starting to cool off. Benjamin is in the 3’s and 4’s class and Hannah is in the 5’s class. They have it very organized. Each class is rotated through the different sports that are supported at the park where we meet (basketball, volleyball, softball/kickball, etc). Except the little ones, their teachers get to pick and mostly they are going to play small games like Duck, Duck, Goose and Mother May I. Each parent teaches one month (8 classes). I have the 9 yr olds for basketball next month. I think it will be fun.

At the end of the class everyone nine and up has to run a mile. They time it, but it isn’t a race, just a way for you to compete against yourself. I’ve been having my kids do one lap (a little less than half a mile). We started with a bit of whining, and it taking FOREVER to get around. But we’ve gone from taking over 10 minutes to down around 7 with Hannah doing almost the whole lap by herself. Ben and T take turns in the stroller. So I’m excited about that!

I’ve been a little bit concerned about something to do to get us outside and moving, so this will hopefully fill that need for us. Cause I wasn’t going to do it by myself!
