Aquarium Class

Our homeschool group participated in their first group class and field trip on Wed at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. We had a nice turnout. 13 school age kids and lots of parents and tag alongs.

The parents were a little disappointed in the class that we signed up for (mostly cause we started late and ended early), I think the instructor was just inexperienced. But the aquarium itself and other presentations we watched were good. My kiddos remembered some of the stuff we saw last time we were there in May. All of the displays are well done, there is a ton of information everywhere and they offer quite a few short info sessions throughout the day.

In the class, my kids really enjoyed the little touchpool they had with urchins, sea stars, and anemones (think Nemo). They also really liked the penguin exhibit, I think because we just finished Mr. Popper’s Penguins book and movie. And they thought the volunteer divers were really fun. 🙂
