Chess

I’m simultaneously embarrassed and proud to say that Benjamin beat me at both checkers and chess this weekend. I’ve got my excuses but in truth he played very well. He said, “my brain is stronger than yours daddy”, in his very excited voice. It was a good opportunity to have a refresher on being a good sport.
I don’t think he strategizes, but he has an incredible eye and doesn’t miss opportunities. He also does a great job predicting outcomes and understanding consequences. I’m very excited for him and losing was worth seeing his excitement. 🙂 -Nate

Carlyle R Remember Nate “A Chess Master’s strength flows trough the pieces.” And YES I watched Star Wars over the weekend.

Terra D That’s so great! I wonder if there is a chess club for homeschoolers in your area? My kids go to the weekly Austin area homeschoolers chess club and have been for about two years and have gotten very good. It’s also a lot of fun. 🙂

Char C can you host a checker education day! i’d love to learn if its not too late to teach an old dog new tricks lol
Rebecca Diltz Nate Moehring CharLee Christian, Tues or Fri this week or have to wait? Not a ton of rules to checkers, you will know how to play after one session. It’s learning how to win that takes more time. 😉
