I’ve had a couple people ask me how to homeschool and I felt it was such a simple question to answer and yet there was so much to say. I decided I really should have a better answer to this, so I finally got myself organized and wrote it down. I’d love feedback from you others who have walked this path.

Carolyn L Great post! When I first considered homeschooling I also thought that was an easy question to answer. Now that we are 4 years down the road I see how it can’t be easily answered. Each family homeschools the way that works for them. It takes prayer, research and down right trial and error. My tidbits of wisdom would be:
1. You will buy curriculum that won’t work. That is ok, sell it used
2. You really don’t have to start formal education until they are at least 6yo. I did way too much, way too early with my first.
3. Go at their pace, it will make teaching easier and more enjoyable.
4. You cannot teach them everything.
5. Remember on the bad days that you get all the good days also.
6. Finally, don’t be a slave to the curriculum, you are the master.

Of the three points you made, I would say the *WHY is the most important (at least for me). I remember when I first started homeschooling😵 It was a disaster! Why? Looking back, my WHY was rooted in deep fear. Thankfully the Holy Spirit reveals all truth and my motive has changed since then. I decided that I would not school out of fear but out of love. Thanks for sharing!!! I love your heart!!!
