2nd time through P3/4 Trimester II

Hannah just finished round two of trimester 2 last week. We hit some of the fairy tales that she really likes, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella. She’s definitely all girl. Loves to dance and sing and twirl and wear dresses and dress up like a princess. The third trimester books tend to be a bit… (more…)

2nd Time through P3/4 First Trimester

Hannah has finished the first seven weeks of P3/4 again. She’s been continuing her read aloud times with our nanny in the morning. She doesn’t seem to mind the repetition. They would almost always read more than the one scheduled story anyway so she’s probably read all of the P3/4 books at least 4 or 5 times already. Kathy has… (more…)

P3/4 Done

Hannah is completing her first time through P3/4 this week. We’ve completed gluing all of her read aloud pictures into her lapbook. And she had a good time showing it off to daddy. Based on some suggestions at the Sonlight forum, we are going to go through the Core again instead of moving on to the next one. I’ll be… (more…)

P3/4 Second Trimester Done

Hannah has officially completed her second trimester of Sonlight’s P3/4 program! We are always amazed by her memory and ability to pick up on things around her. She loves to pretend and has a great imagination. Language Arts These are the books we’ve read in the first and second trimesters. We glue them into her lapbook after we’ve read them… (more…)

1st Trimester Completed

We finished the first trimester of Sonlight P3/4 this week. In all we read 36 stories, worked on social studies, and science, memorized 6 bible verses, did some handwriting, and did lots of crafts and extra activities. Our potato experiment seems to be going slowly, not sure if its doing what it’s supposed to. Hannah starts her first dance class… (more…)

What The Kids Have Been Up To

Normally these would all be separate posts, but I’m behind and lazy. Art The kids have been working hard on two craft projects for quite some time now and finally finished them so I could show them off: Robots: And Dragons: Ben We moved Ben into a toddler bed! And I had to get out 24mo clothes for my “little”… (more…)

A new project – A Lapbook

As I was doing some homeschool research I kept coming across the terms lapbooking, notebooking, minute books, etc. They are just one of the tools you can use to have your children create a “project” around an idea or subject. In Nate’s words “Its basically a scrapbook.” The idea is that it is small enough to fit into the child’s… (more…)

One month down

So, how is Hannah’s preschool going? From Hannah’s perspective, great! She likes having her little “plan” up on the wall, she says “That’s my paper, not Benjamin’s.” She, as always, amazes us. She has memorized 3 scripture verses with just a small amount of prompting from us on the verse reference numbers. She always wants to read more than what… (more…)

Hannah’s Preschool

Since I’ve been thinking of the possibility of homeschooling, I’ve been doing a little bit research here and there. There really aren’t any curriculums out there for preschoolers, obviously they should be playing and running around and working on just being kids for most of their day and I support that. Hannah enjoys learning though, so I want to have… (more…)
