We got through the revolution and have achieved the writing of the constitution. Whew!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bible \u2013 Benjamin has a Royal Ranger bible reading assignment currently, so he has been doing that in lieu of his school readings. During this unit, we finished Hannah&#8217;s assigned reading of the New Testament, so we&#8217;ll start doing Ben&#8217;s during devotions and he&#8217;ll pick up his school assignments again. He also had weekly memory verses, but we are currently working on memorizing the &#8220;Give Me Liberty&#8221; speech by Patrick Henry.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In history\/social studies, we have weekly readings on Native tribes in <strong>American Indian Prayer Guide<\/strong>. Our spines for history are <strong>Children&#8217;s Encyclopedia of American History, The Landmark History of the American People, Volume 1,<\/strong> and <strong>The Beginner&#8217;s American History<\/strong>. We read a fun book called <strong>If You Were There When They Signed the Constitution <\/strong>and we also watch a documentary called <u class=\"remove-format\">A More Perfect Union<\/u> on YouTube. It was pretty well done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Read Alouds have been interesting. We read <strong>Toliver&#8217;s Secret<\/strong>, <strong>Carry On Mr. Bowditch<\/strong>, and <strong>Justin Morgan Had a Horse<\/strong>. We also have weekly selections from <strong>A Child&#8217;s Introduction to Poetry<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reading \/ LA is in a good rhythm. Each week we have spelling with <strong>Sequential Spelling<\/strong>, vocabulary in <strong>Wordly Wise 3000, Book 3,<\/strong> dictation, a cursive assignment, and a creative writing assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During this unit, Benjamin read <strong>The Bears on Hemlock Mountain<\/strong> and <strong>Om-Kas-Toe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/themoehrings.com\/zp\/albums\/2.3.Joel-Alan\/2019\/schoolwork\/04%20mighty%20mind%20joel%20benjamin.JPG?resize=197%2C246&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"197\" height=\"246\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Science, we finished up a book called <strong>Mysteries and Marvels of Nature<\/strong> and worked on some fun experiments with radishes for a 6 week unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Benjamin has finished Horizons 3 so we are in an in between season right now. Not sure if I want to go ahead and start level 4 or save it for 4th grade. He is doing some math apps to keep his facts current. He enjoys math so I&#8217;m considering letting him go until he gets to harder content. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Extras of course are the best part of school. We still work on piano and Spanish on an almost daily basis. We have weekly play dates with two different families, a weekly park day, Royal Rangers, and various other outdoor activities. We also had a special trip to the Zoo and our homeschool Spelling Bee. I&#8217;ve also rearranged the schedule so the kids can help more with Joel, so Ben and Hannah have been helping with some of his reading and phonics learning. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Benjamin&#8217;s 3rd Grade (US History I) is going along quite well.
