I saw a post that used this material from Joann’s to make a quilt. . . so I decided to try it.

\nThis is the finished product. I tried to get Hannah to help me. She liked filling up the bobbins, but wasn’t quite big enough to push the foot pedal and hold onto \/ control the material as it went through the machine. So she got bored pretty quick after we did a couple lines. It was more difficult than I thought it would be to stay on the lines, but I did a pretty good job. I didn’t know how to do the binding (edge) of a quilt so had to look that up. I only put a couple of seams on inside out (which is pretty normal for me) and I’m pretty impressed that it looks as good as it does. \ud83d\ude42 We’ll see how it holds up to being used as our world map for schooling stuff. <\/p>\n

Lessons learned:
\n– Put seams on the right direction.
\n– Pin more.
\n– Buy more thread (I ran out)
\n– I did the outside edge first, which was a bad idea because it allowed the material to bunch a little bit. If I would have worked from one side to the other, I would have had less bunching.
\n– Watch for coupons\/sales. I spent about $25 and could have got it for a bit less if I had been patient.
\n– Nate learned that when I say “I’m going to Joann’s.” to say “No.” \ud83d\ude09
