<-- Benjamin with his science fair medal!\n\nIn between all of our traveling, we still enjoyed school. Another 6 weeks of kindergarten completed. Benjamin is 1\/3 of the way through the curriculum, but I'll be stretching it to next fall before starting 1st grade. \n\nOur first morning routine of the day consists of bible and devotion and helps set the stage for each of our days. We are currently reading a section out of Ben's Ergermeier's children's bible. Then Hannah does her devotion after. \n\nIn history\/social studies, we have been moving slowly into early European eras with Living Log Ago<\/u> and the children’s encyclopedia. Our primary readings have been missionary stories from these countries from I Heard Good News Today<\/u>.<\/p>\n
We finished up House at Pooh Corner<\/u>, Richard Scarry’s Please and Thank You Book<\/u>, and No Children, No Pets<\/u>. We also have a poetry reading almost everyday and a reading out of In Grandma’s Attic<\/u> weekly. <\/p>\n
Reading \/ LA
\nBen is doing a great job reading. He will randomly read signs or cereal boxes or other things we come across now. He likes spelling and rhyming and has nice handwriting, but doesn’t like copywork very much. <\/p>\n

Science
\nWe completed our section on different animals, the oceans, eggs and chicks, and a book on caterpillars. When we did this section with Hannah, we raised Painted Lady caterpillars, but it is too late in the season for us to do it this year so we’ll do it next spring for Ben. We are moving into plants next. For experiments, we did a bit on dough with yeast and without, making clay objects, and air resistance. The highlight of this section has been participating in our homeschool group’s science fair. Ben attempted growing crystals and was successful with salt and alum bases but our sugar solution failed. He did a good job making his project board and doing a short oral presentation. <\/p>\n
Benjamin is almost finished with his Horizon’s K workbook. We are going to go straight into the level 1 as the first section is review anyway and he is not having any issues with math. <\/p>\n
We’ve had quite a couple months with fun field trips and vacation. We had a Post Office tour, went with Daddy to the Griffith Observatory, played at the beach, went on a Fire Station and Police Office tour, participated in book club, went on our trip – and toured the Tippecanoe battlefield, attended Camp Runamucka with our homeschool group. We also have been to Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags this month!
