\"DSCN7272\"<\/a>We’ve been ‘in transition’ now for over a month. <\/p>\n

<-- Joel's new favorite thing to do is try to steal whatever the other kids are using for school. :)\n\nI decided not to bring all of our curriculum for two different grades with us during this time, but we've still been doing school. I'm treating this time the same as how I look at summers and other transition times . . we use it to supplement, fill in, and let the kids explore their interests. \n\nSo I decided my focus would be these subjects:\n- Bible\n- Handwriting\n- Math (Hannah is just drilling)\n- Typing\n- The kids still have reading time so not worried about that and we are catching up on our magazine stack.\n- We're also working our way through Harry Potter 3 as our read aloud and have the movie lined up to watch when we're done. \n\nThe kids have art supplies and are still crafting as well as their electronics that they get to play during quiet time. We had been doing a good job keeping ourselves occupied but needed a trip to the dollar store yesterday to find some new little crafts and toys to bring some newness to our playtime. \n\n\"DSCN7274\"<\/a>We’ve found a local homeschooling group that already has a lot of activities going on. I won this wall hanging as a door prize at the first meeting I went to! We’re doing a weekly park date and have a bowling and zoo trip next week and hope to see a children’s theater present “The Wizard of Oz” this month. We’ve also made friends with the local librarians and have been going to story hour and to spend some time out of our little living space. Nate already knew a homeschooling family in the area that we have had some play time with and we’ve met a couple others whose kids get along with ours. \ud83d\ude42 <\/p>\n

Since making it to TX, we’ve also had some great extended family time. We spent a week in MN with my parents visiting my Grandpa and aunts and uncles and cousins and then the older kids got to spend a week in the RV camping out with Nate’s parents. We’ve seen all the TX siblings already and have some birthday celebrations coming up which will be fun. The holidays will be wonderful too as we’ll have the whole Diltz clan together for Thanksgiving and will see the CO Moehrings at Christmas. Woohoo! <\/p>\n

All in all, I can’t say we’ve been bored. The olders are transitioning well, we’ve only had a few sad moments. Right now everything is still new and exciting. Probably after the holidays when things slow down, we might have some more rough patches. Joel is growing and learning new things everyday too. We are all looking forward to getting settled in the new house some time this month. Until then, I guess we’ll keep schooling on the move!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
