God has our back

In the last 3 weeks, there have been 4 vehicle related events that really could have gone bad for us.  In each instance I have thanked God and been personally touched that God cares so much for our safety.

  1. The first was our tire problems on the way back from Texas, I’m so thankful that the tire didn’t blow completely as we were driving 80 in the pitch black (the speed limit is 80 in West Texas).  It’s easy to imagine we could have wound up flipped over in a ditch on the side of the highway.  Instead, not only didn’t it blow, but we were able to limp along to a motel in a nearby town.
  2. I could have been hit by a man running a red light.  My light went green to go West, but I happened to notice  from the North that this car, who was still a good way out from the intersection, was traveling too fast.  I stopped accelerating, now I’m sitting in the middle of the Northbound part of the intersection, and this car whizzed right in front of me.  In fact I’m pretty sure he actually went behind the vehicle that was to my left traveling in the same direction, that’s how late he was getting into the intersection.  Tires were smoking as he slammed into a car coming East, actually I think it was the 2nd car in the line of the traffic.  The car spun around and blocked the line the vehicles in both lines behind him.  Nobody was injured, but you can imagine how thankful I was that I didn’t just get speared in the side.
  3. Maybe 2 weeks later, another occurrence of someone running a red light, different intersection.  I’m waiting to turn left (West), the light goes green. I look left and see the line of East bound cars starting to form.  The car in the far lane looked like it was coming too fast, and I wasn’t sure if it was going to stop, so I decided just stay in my spot until I see it stop.  He did start to slow down, but by the time he slowed to about 5mph he was practically right in front of me in the intersection.  I shrug my shoulders and lift my hands in disbelief that I had again nearly been hit by a driver not paying attention.  When he realized he was now the only one moving and in the intersection, he waved apologetically and continued on through.  Thank you God for keeping me safe!
  4. Today our van wouldn’t start, apparently a dead battery.  Thank God this happened in our garage, and not on a trip or some place inconvenient.  Being stranded in the Arizona heat is serious business, especially with a bunch of small kids.  Thankfully I was able to use our Honda to jump start the van and replaced the battery.  No other problems apparent.

We’ve also had some frustrations with the foster care system lately, to the point where I feel like we are being spiritually attacked.  And yet, at the same time we’ve also seen God’s fingerprints in a number of areas that make us think, “wow God, thank you for being with us in this”.   I don’t want to go into detail, but we have a great new CPS worker who is a God fearing woman, sees through the bull, and is probably the best case worker we’ve ever had.  We’ve also heard of some divine appointments within CPS that I think has really worked out in favor of us and the girls.

We feel very blessed to be in God’s hands, and I just needed to shout them out.  Thank you Jesus!

  1. I think He’s really been working on me to ‘wait for Him’. I get frustrated when I’m in it, but I’ve been trying to step back and see what he’s up to instead of trying to control the situation myself. Seems like He knows what he’s doing huh?
