Halfway through 3rd Grade

Again, Benjamin crossed the halfway point two weeks ago, just not writing it up.

In bible we follow along with Hannah’s Girl’s Ministry readings. He also has school assignments, but he started an assignment for Discovery Rangers of five OT books so we are doing those right now, one chapter a day. He also memorizes passages each week.

In history/social studies, we continue in the American Revolution. We have a daily reading about native tribes in American Indian Prayer Guide. Our other spines are The Beginner’s American History, Landmark History of the American People – Volume 1, and Children’s Encyclopedia of American History.

Read Alouds for this unit were Sign of the Beaver, Johnny Tremain, and Toliver’s Secret. We also ready weekly selections from A Child’s Introduction to Poetry.

Reading / LA are in a good groove. We have spelling in Sequential Spelling 1, vobabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 3, cursive, dictation, Creative Writing, and Timeline.

Ben had some fun readers this time around. He read Jungle Book (abridged), And Then What Happened Paul Revere, Phoebe the Spy, and The Cabin Faced West.

Science has been focused on plants. We use Mysteries and Marvels of Nature and Real Science 4 Kids: Biology Level I as our spines.

Math goes along well. Benjamin is close to finishing Horizons 3 and on our off days he plays an adventure app called Prodigy.

We love our extracurriculars. We still practice piano, do PE daily with GoNoodle, weekly park and playdates, weekly Royal Rangers. Benjamin just finished basketball with Daddy coaching. He says he wants to play again. We also had a trip to CA with lots of fun activities and all our normal February parties for birthdays.
