Finished 3rd Grade

We finished up 3rd grade a couple weeks ago, had a week to finalize a few things, and started right in on our new year.

Bible finished off some student readings, ended the American Indian Prayer Guide, and finished with a long memory passage.

In history/social studies, we closed up the first half of our spines. They were Landmark History of American People, The Beginner’s American History, and Children’s Encyclopedia of American History.

Read Alouds for this unit were Adoniram Judson and Swift Rivers. We also finished reading and listening to the excerpts in A Child’s Introduction to Poetry.

We finalized all of our workbooks in Language arts: Sequential Spelling I, cursive, and creative assignments. We also tied up our timeline as well as continue with a weekly look at current events.

Ben enjoyed his readers for this last set. We had Robert Fulton, Boy Craftsman, Timmoy O’Dowd and the Big Ditch, and Sarah Plain and Tall.

Science wrapped up Real Science for Kids Biology, a book called Water, Magic Schoolbus: Inside the Human Body, Incredible Creatures that Defy Evolution, and Listening to Crickets.

Math had been finished last 6 weeks so we worked on skills in an app called Prodigy. Ben reported that he had “won the game” so I moved him to try out Adventure Academy.

Extras included daily piano and Duolingo (Foreign language). Weekly Royal Rangers, Hawaiian Falls, and basketball. A trip to MN to visit with almost all of our Dale Henry relatives, some lake trips with Grandpa and Grandma Diltz, and Grandma’s retirement party.
