30 Weeks of 7th Grade

Hannah finished up week 30 back at the beginning of June but we’ve been busy with all our summer activities so here’s the write up and I’m backdating it. 🙂 We are on track to finish by the end of August.

In bible, Hannah is still finishing up her 3-year bible reading requirement for Girl’s Ministries. We also do a journaling activity each week from The BBC Manual. She also has a weekly reading from Daring to Live on the Edge. We still do a memory passage each week or add on verses to a long passage.

In history/social studies, we have Story of the World: Modern Age and Usborne Encyclopedia of World History as our spines. She also has a weekly current events assignment from her World Teen magazine.

She read The Good Master, Angel on the Square, The Year of the Impossible Goodbyes, and Snow Treasure to herself.

Read Alouds included Banner in the Sky, The Singing Tree, and Number the Stars. Every now and then we work on our timeline to see where all the events we’ve been learning about fit in.

All of the books we’ve been reading are pretty heavy since we are in the WWII and after timeframe. Hannah has been doing well with the content and with her writing assignments on some tough topics.

Hannah does well with reading and writing most of the time and gets her creative assignment done each week. We finished Sequential Spelling 4! Hannah is excited for no more spelling books. We have poetry in Classic Poetry, and vocabulary in Wordly Wise 3000-Book 7.

Science this year is conservation, robotics, and technology. We finished up The Industrial Revolution, Planet Earth, and Garbage. These books have reading sections and then suggested labs.

For math, we finished Horizons 6! Yay. Hannah got a little break and then we started Pre-Algebra.

Extras are fun. Ginny turned 9 with a party at Chuck E Cheese and we had a fun weekend trip to Port Aransas with the Diltz and Miller families. Hannah tried oysters for the first time and wasn’t impressed. We got our spring awards for Girl’s Ministries and we had a couple trips to Bandera before and after PawPaw passed. Hannah still plans and leads our worship at Active Love each week and also goes to karate twice a week. She’s doing a great job juggling her responsibilities.
