2nd 6 Weeks of 7th Grade

Benjamin finished up week 12 mid-December, just getting around to recording it. He is doing well. He tries to get away with doing the minimum most of the time (who doesn’t) so I have to push him a little, but he gets it done.

Benjamin has a devotional called The BBC Manual and has been reading a book called How to Stay Christians in High School. He has his own daily reading and weekly memory work. Sometimes he chooses to use his youth group memory work. He has a goal to read the whole bible in 2023 so we have a little chart he is filling out.

In history/social studies, our spines are The Story of the World: Early Modern Times and Usborne Encyclopedia 12,000 Years of World History. Benjamin does a current event assignment once a week using World Kids magazine.

Reader alouds this unit were The Sherwood Ring. We also have poetry selections each week from Classic Poetry.

For language we have Sequential Spelling 4 for spelling, a cursive assignment each week just to stay in practice, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 7, and a creative assignment each week.

This unit Benjamin read Escape Across the Wide Sea.

Science this year is a fun set of books. We are using Robotics for experiments for now. He is also reading through Super Cool Tech.

Benjamin is working through Horizons Pre-Algebra this year and picks up new concepts well.

We are streamlining our extras as Hannah and Benjamin’s schedules are getting more full. All the kids finished up karate with purple belts in Dec and we are taking a break. We closed out our time with Royal Rangers at WFA because we started up a youth and children’s group at ALC but we hope to do some combined events. Benjamin finished up his ukulele lessons in December also. He is focusing on basketball for now – go number 43. Ben is still our main audio/video tech for church and does a great job making sure everything is ready for each service. He has a part time job watching a little 1 yo once a week and does cleaning for me at Connections occasionally. We still try to see family every so often. We had a combined birthday party at Kalahari with the Millers in November, Diltz’ came up for a game and Ben’s birthday, we saw the Moehrings for Thanksgiving and celebrated Grandpa Diltz’ 70th birthday. We also got a new puppy at the beginning of December that is taking up a lot of energy.
