24 Weeks of 7th

We finished week 24 mid-April. On track to be finished by end of July taking into account summer activities and trips.

Benjamin has a devotional called The BBC Manual and finished up a devotional called Live Like a Jesus Freak. He reads along with our church reading plan and he also has weekly memory work.  He also sometimes has youth memory work.

In history/social studies, our spines are The Story of the World: The Modern Age and Usborne Encyclopedia 12,000 Years of World History. Benjamin does a current event assignment once a week using World Kids magazine. We have weekly timeline activities as well.

Reader alouds this unit were The Good Master and The Singing Tree. We started The War That Saved My Life. All the books are tear jerkers because we are in WWI timeline. We also have poetry selections each week from Classic Poetry.

For language we have Sequential Spelling 4 for spelling, a cursive assignment each week just to stay in practice, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 7, and a creative assignment each week.

This unit Benjamin read Nory Ryan’s Song, Homeless Bird, and Angel on the Square.

Science this year is a fun set of books. We read Energy and worked the experiments that accompanied. Then we started The Industrial Revolution and it’s labs.

Benjamin is still doing well with Horizons Pre-Algebra for math.

Big events we had this unit were a day camp and VBS at the church. Benjamin was a helper in one of the rotations. We had a 10 day trip to Israel for missions and tourism. I think he had a good time. Photo above is sunset on the Sea of Galilee.

Benjamin doesn’t have any extracurricular activities at the moment since he is done with basketball. In his free time, he records videos for his Youtube channel, plays lots of video games, and sometimes plays board games. He also likes playing gaga ball with the rest of the kids. He helped put the pit together and get it painted with the youth group. He does babysit once a week for some spending money and he continues to help with the tech when we are are church. He spent a lot of time at Hannah’s event and tagging along to all the other church and Connections events we had planned. He is a pretty good 13 yr old and happens to have his mom’s sense of humor.
