2nd 6 Weeks of 10th Grade

Done with 12 weeks. It is going well.

Hannah’s bible component consists of The Westminster Shorter Catechism as a spine. She finished More Than a Carpenter and started What if Jesus Had Never Been Born?. She has some verses to memorize each week. She is continuing with bible in a year on YouVersion.

Her spines for history are The Story of ChristianityThe 100 Most Important Events in Christian History, and From Jerusalem to Irian Jaya. She finished The Church of the East. We still do timeline and current events on Fridays.

Math is Math U See Geometry. Hannah doesn’t like math but she is doing well in this course. She only needs one more high school math credit.

English Literature is sometimes hard to slog through but Hannah is doing well. We have a couple of books that have the original with the modern translation side by side on the pages. I think this is pretty helpful. She read Till We Have Faces, Twelfth Night, The Ramsay Scallop, and started Pride and Prejudice. She has A Child’s Anthology of Poetry for poetry selections each week. She does well with her creative assignments. They have her do timed essays for practicing for the SAT this year. I think we are doing 3 rounds of those. She also is continuing her Vocabulary from Classic Roots with book C, Analogies 2,  and Sequential Spelling with book 7.

Science is Apologia Biology. She has a text and suggested reading plan and experiments. She has had a few microscope experiments so far. Dissecting coming soon.

Her Learning Frameworks class is basically a how to succeed in college course. She had to do a sample budget, make a resume, and her final is a presentation about new skills she has learned this year. She is finishing well in the class so they are letting her take two courses next semester.

Hannah’s primary extra was volleyball. She finished up mid October. She stays busy leading worship at our church and sometimes filling in at Waco First Assembly. She had a babysitting gig once a week. Our youth group has had a few events this fall. She also helps with all our church and Connections events and works some of our parties. She might try to get a part time job when she turns 16 in the spring and has her license.
