For bible, we do family devotions after breakfast, a few minutes of journaling, and prayer. Benjamin has a devotional bible study called Bible Study Sampler that he is working through. We also read a theology book called Why Pray?. He also has memory passages each week.
We are in US history this year. He is taking US HIST I and II at MCC this fall and spring and doing the US History Language arts with me. He has noted multiple times how the books we are reading align with his dual credit class. I still make him add things to his timeline and he has a current events activity each week. He also has daily readings from A Treasury of Poetry.
Ben is taking Dual Credit Algebra I this semester and Algebra II in the spring. So far so good.
In Language, we have spelling with Sequential Spelling 7, a cursive assignment each week, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 10 and some analogies and Latin thrown in every now and then. This unit we read Peace Child, Stink Alley, and The Children of the Longhouse. He started Amos Fortune: Free Man.
Science this semester is Biology I at MCC. He has two lectures and two labs each week. I think he is doing ok.
Ben is in the off season. He has drivers ed to finish up so he can get his license in November. He doesn’t really like driving but he’s going to have to to get to all his practices and games. Nate convinced the boys to do Insanity with him so they have been working out almost every day and tracking their progress. He gets to go to lots of volleyball games and is a big help with any work we have at our rentals. He attends youth on Tuesdays but likes to have a little bit of free time when everyone else goes to Rangers on Wednesdays. We had a fun youth glow party and he seems to be doing ok in Dual Credit. We’ll see when his grades come in.
