For bible, we do family devotions after breakfast, a few minutes of journaling, and prayer. Ginny has a book called the BBC Manual that is a primer on personal bible study and devotions. She is also reading sections from But Don’t All Religions Lead to God. She has a bible passage each day and a memory verse or two each week.
We are in the second half of World history so the work load is about the same as last year. Our spines are The Story of the World:Early Modern Times and Usborne Encyclopedia of History. We also do a timeline activity and current events each week.
Read alouds for this unit we A Murder for Her Majesty and The Ghost in the Tokaido Inn. We started The Arror Over the Door. We also read a couple poems from Classic Poetry each week.
We are working through Horizons Pre-Algebra for math this year. So far we are staying close to schedule. When we have extra time, Ginny does some Prodigy math as a supplement. She’ll have more time for that when volleyball is over.
In Language, we have spelling with Sequential Spelling 3 and 4 (we are finishing up 3), a cursive assignment each week, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 7, and a creative assignment each week. This unit Ginny read The King’s Fifth and The Iron Peacock.
Science this year is “Physical Science”. Our spines are Chemistry: Investigate the Matter that Makes Up Your World and Super Simple Physics. We also read selections from How Things Work: Inside Out! each week. We have an experiment book called Discover & Do: Level H for our weekly experiments.
Ginny is playing volleyball as her fall sport again this year. She is on the 8th grade Silver team for Texas Wind. She plays front row outside and is more confident at serving. She attends youth on Tuesdays and Girl’s Ministries on Wednesdays. She got to go to Call Rally at the district. We also hosted a glow night for the youth of our area. Even though Ginny plays volleyball she still gets to go to lots of Hannah’s games. She also helps out when we have to work on our rental houses. Somewhere in there they fit in swimming in the river and riding bikes.
