5th 6 Weeks of 12th Grade

Hannah had a super busy set of weeks leading up to graduation and following. I let her homeschool reading slide so she could wrap up her Dual Credit and we could enjoy all the celebrations and visitors in town. We will have time in the summer to finish.

Hannah has World View studies this year for homeschool history. We started Good Ideas From Questionable Christians and continued in Streams of Civilization II. She also read Philosophy Made Slightly Less Difficult on her own.

She wrapped up her dual credit classes with As and also got enough credits for an Associates of Arts from MCC with high honors.

Hannah had an extensive list of extras. Her weekly ones include youth on Tuesdays, Baptist Student Ministries at MCC on Wednesdays, leading Girls Ministries on Wednesdays at Waco First Assembly, and helping with our church worship team. She usually works one or two shifts a week at 3 Spoons for gas money.

During this unit we had A LOT of distractions. We started all the college process with Campus Days at Nelson in March. She was already pretty sure she wanted to go there and had been accepted, so it was just to verify. She met with friends to decorate her grad cap, took grad photos, and helped prep for the gradution ceremony. We had a quick Easter trip to CP/Bandera to see family. She got her nose pierced! She had her last prom, her last athletic banquet, her last Girl’s Ministries retreat and award ceremony, and her last Pastor’s Kid retreat (PK). We had her high school graduation, Senior Sunday at church, and the Moehrings converged on Waco for a reunion and Gram’s 85th birthday party the couple of days afterward. The next Tuesday we had her MCC graduation and the next Monday we went on her senior trip – an Amtrak ride to tour St. Louis (leaving from McGregor!). When we got back, she worked her last shift at 3 Spoons and got ready to start her summer job at Mentoring Alliance. There were also lots of her friends graduations to attend and other gatherings just to hang out.

We are so grateful to everyone who came out to support her or sent notes and cards. I think she had a great time finishing up her high school career! Just two books left to finish and I’ll be done with my homeschool career with Hannah Beth.
