Ginny finished up Core H mid-July. This unit took us a little while due to distractions for Hannah’s graduation.
For bible, family devotions happen first, followed by a few minutes of journaling, and prayer. Ginny finished the BBC Manual. She has a bible passage to read each day and a memory verse or two each week. In this unit we had added readings from Daring to Live on the Edge each week.
In history, our spines were: The Story of the World:The Modern Age supplementing with Usborne Encyclopedia of History. We also had a timeline activity and current events each week. During this unit, Ginny also read God’s Smuggler, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and The Breadwinner together.
Read alouds for this unit were Under the Egg, and . We also read a couple poems from Classic Poetry each week.
Math is Horizons Pre-Algebra. We added in the worksheets for extra practice. We didn’t quite finish, will keep working. She also does some “Prodigy” math as a supplement.
In Language the routine is the same each week. We finished up spelling with Sequential Spelling 4, a cursive assignment each week, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 7, and a creative assignment each week. Ginny read New Kid, Pay Attention Carter Jones, and It’s A Jungle Out There.
Our science spines are Super Simple Physics and What’s Your Potential?. We also read selections from How Things Work: Inside Out! each week. We have an experiment book called Discover & Do: Level H and some videos to help us with our weekly experiments.
Ginny’s main electives are youth on Tuesdays and Girl’s Ministries on Wednesdays. She helps write and decorate cards for various reasons for the church. When she has free time, she mostly plays on her phone and talks to friends. During this unit, we had our TX Wind Sports Banquet, Volleyball spring training, all of the graduation festivities for Hannah with lots of family and friends in town, a Moehring gathering, a Girl’s Ministries retreat, a trip to St Louis. Ginny turned 14 with a movie date with friends. She got to attend PK Retreat and took a trip to Bandera to help Gram burn her brush. We had youth camp and an outreach event at a world cup game in Dallas. Whew! We made it. Will be starting next year pretty quick as soon at sports start up again.
