Faith

What do we believe?

People have been using the Creed for thousands of years, we think it sums things up pretty well:

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and Earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was cruxified, died and was buried.
He decended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into Heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the Living and the Dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of the saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the dead,
and the life everlasting.
AMEN.

(Becca) I have been raised Lutheran, but would like to consider myself Christian. I believe that most of the tension between denominations is a bunch of nonsense when we all believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins and we could all be worshipping our risen Lord together as it will be in the end.

- The church we are currently attending is a charismatic Pentecostal church called 2 Rivers Church in Gilbert, Arizona. The two rivers are the river of the word and the river of the spirit. It’s about 5 minutes away from our house. We started attending there in the fall of 2009. We are looking forward to joining new and exciting ministries and growing with our new church family.

- After moving to Gilbert, we attended a bible church called East Valley Bible for almost two years before determining that we didn’t agree with their fundamental theology, namely Calvinism. We’d love to share our opinions if you are interested. We ended up doing a bunch of research, soul searching, and praying before also determining that we don’t necessarily line up with the mainline ELCA (Lutheran) views that we grew up with either and began a new church search with a much narrower scope.

- Our first church in Arizona was a Lutheran church called Community Church of Joy in Glendale, Arizona. The church was about 10 minute drive from our house and we really enjoyed the service we attended. We were involved with a few exciting ministries: ACES and Mission 1:27.

- Nate and I attended Peace Lutheran Church in College Station during our college years. They have an awesome website full of news, tools, and great links to help build your faith. Pastor Deb Grant is also our Aggie Lutheran sponsor and is full of useful knowledge.

- In high school I was privileged to be a part of an organization called the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It made a huge impact on my life and I gained a lot of experience working with my peers and helping them to grow in Spiritual ways while I expanded my knowledge of the bible at the same time.
