5th 6 Weeks of 8th Grade

6 week count down! Sometime toward the end of May we should be wrapping up 8th grade. Nice!

For bible, Benjamin is following along with our church as we read the bible. He also has school memory work each week. Benjamin started What’s So Amazing about Grace? for his theology book this unit. He attends youth group and we have morning devotions as a family.

In history/social studies, he is working through Einstein Adds a New Dimension. Ben also read Bomb: The Race to Build and Censored Science: The Suppressed Evidence. He started Evolution 2.0. He still does timeline and current events on Fridays. Benjamin has mostly been doing all of his reading to himself but sometimes Nate gets to help out. His read alouds were Echo and Which None Can Shut

For readers, Benjamin finished Pictures of Hollis Woods, The Phantom Tollbooth, and started The Teacher’s Funeral. He also has National Geographic Book of Nature Poetry for some poetry selections each week.

Math is Math U See Algebra I and Benjamin does well. Should be wrapping it up soon. His first high school credit.

Language Arts consists of Sequential Spelling 5 for spelling, Classical Roots A for Latin, and Wordly Wise Book 8 for vocabulary. Had a research project paper to write this unit which he did pretty well on.

Science is built into his reading and history, but he still has an experiment each week. He doesn’t really like science, or maybe just the experiments, but they have been fairly interesting.

Benjamin didn’t have any specific extras to keep him busy this unit. He baby sits about once a week and sometimes gets to go cut a lawn for cash. He has youth group and Royal Rangers once a week. He is our tech man at most of our church services. He did get to go to a bball camp during Spring Break and Nate talked him and Hannah into running a Spartan with him. Other than that, he attends or helps at most of our church or Connections events and plays a lot of video games.
