6th 6 Weeks of 9th Grade

Finished! I think Benjamin did a great job for his freshman year.

For bible, we had daily morning devotions as a family. For school, he finished The Westminster Shorter Catechism and The Jesus I Never Knew for theology. He had daily readings and a weekly scripture memory as well.

In history/social studies, wrapped up our three main spines: The Story of Christianity, The 100 Most Important Events in Christian History, and From Jerusalem to Irian Jaya. He also had a timeline and a current events assignment each week.

Read Alouds were longer and I managed to read most of them with Benjamin. He read The Shining Company, What Hearts, Robinson Crusoe, and Tiger Boy. He also finished up his daily readings from A Child’s Anthology of Poetry.

Math was Math U See Geometry. He wrapped it up well.

Language was fairly routine. He had a weekly creative writing assignment and a weekly short timed essay. He did vocabulary with Vocabulary From Classic Roots B and Wordly Wise 3000, Book 9, analogies with Analogies 1, and spelling with Sequential Spelling 6. I think his writing improved though he barely squeaked out an A, we will find out what other people think when he takes English Comp. . .

Science was Discovering Design with Earth Science which included experiments, vocabulary, reviews, and tests. He did well and did most of it independently. Will be taking Biology in the fall dual credit.

For dual credit, Ben took Music Appreciation as his arts requirement and Spanish I with Hannah for foreign language.

Benjamin continues drivers ed and being our driver places though he would rather ride so he can play. This unit we had an atheletic banquet, a camp out at Grandma’s, the youth taught a kids class, LEAD conference and PK retreat, and a trip to the zoo. Ben also babysits on a semi regular basis and had summer basketball workouts.
