It took us a little over 2 months to get 6 weeks in but there are lots of good reasons why that happened. Benjamin is trying out men’s volleyball and has had some open gyms. He is also working at Subway so he can get himself some wheels soon – the truck is a gas guzzler. And he was finishing up his hardest Dual Credit semester so far. We also were distracted by graduations, family visits, and Hanah’s senior trip (I did make him do some school on vacation, because we have a finish by deadline). We only have bible and reading left so we’ll finish up by the end of July.
For bible, we do family devotions first after breakfast. Then Ben has a few minutes of journaling and prayer. Benjamin has a devotional bible study called Bible Study Sampler that he is working through. We are in Evidence for Jesus for theology. He also has memory work each week, he memorized the Isaiah 53 this unit.
Benjamin had US History Language arts with me but the history portion at MCC. I still make him add things to his timeline and he has a current events activity each week. If he has a paper due for Dual Credit, I accept it for a hs grade as well. He also has daily readings from A Treasury of Poetry.
Ben finished up Pre-Cal a little short of an A, but I think he is on track to get a lot of the math and science pre-reqs out of the way in Dual Credit before going into engineering.
In Language, we have spelling with Sequential Spelling 7, a cursive assignment each week, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 10 and some analogies and Latin thrown in every now and then. This unit we finished To Kill A Mockingbird, read Bud, Not Buddy, A Long Way from Chicago, A Year Down Yonder, and Keeping Score.
He took Spanish II with Hannah and did well. Done with foreign language!
No science this semester.
Besides work and school and sports Benjamin also has youth on Tuesdays and helps with the church tech team. He does manage to get some video game time in on a regular basis – starting to stay up late. As long as he continues to get everything done, we’ll be ok with that. During this unit Benjamin was in a youth skit at Easter, we had a trip to CP / Bandera for Easter, we had the TX Wind Sports Banquet, Hannah’s graduation, Moehring reunion for Gram’s 85th birthday, and a family trip to St. Louis. Lots of fun and learning time managment as well as the value of money (it costs a lot to fill up the truck!).
