30 weeks down, 6 to go. We managed to get these 6 done in a normal amount of time but it will probably take us the rest of the summer to finish the last 6. We’ve got graduation and camps and sports and fun to keep us busy! We finished on 4/28 so I’m a little behind on record keeping.
For bible, family devotions happen first, followed by a few minutes of journaling, and prayer. Ginny has a book called the BBC Manual for personal bible study and devotions. She has a bible passage to read each day and a memory verse or two each week. In this unit we added readings from Daring to Live on the Edge each week.
In history, our spines are: The Story of the World:The Modern Age supplementing with Usborne Encyclopedia of History. We also do a timeline activity and current events each week.
Read alouds for this unit were the rest of The War That Saved My Life, Number the Stars, and The Year of Impossible Goodbyes. We also read a couple poems from Classic Poetry each week.
Math is Horizons Pre-Algebra. We added in the worksheets for extra practice. We might not finish before we start next year so we will just keep rolling until she is done. She also does some “Prodigy” math as a supplement.
In Language the routine is the same each week. We have spelling with Sequential Spelling 4, a cursive assignment each week, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 7, and a creative assignment each week. Ginny finished Snow Treasure, and read The Endless Steppe, and Chu Ju’s House.
Our science spines are Super Simple Physics and What’s Your Potential?. We also read selections from How Things Work: Inside Out! each week. We have an experiment book called Discover & Do: Level H and some videos to help us with our weekly experiments.
Ginny’s main electives are youth on Tuesdays and Girl’s Ministries on Wednesdays. She is our backup tech member if Ben is not available and she helps send out our church cards for various occassions. During this unit she had a Girls Ministries retreat, helped with our Bible Blitz and park worship, and participated in a youth skit for Easter. We had one day camp and she was our craft leader. She also got her ears pierced. We had one trip to CP/Bandera for Easter to see family. Other than that, Ginny plays on her phone and draws.
