Plan for 3rd Grade

I get to write my plan for 3rd grade this week while Hannah is finishing up 2nd grade and then next week I’ll get to write up our last 6 weeks of fun. Woohoo!

So once again I had purchased a mostly complete older version of Core D. Any books I didn’t have or couldn’t find, I purchased from Sonlight and a couple of the books I couldn’t find had been dropped from the core so I bought something that is current to replace it instead. I ‘think’ I’ve got all the changes marked up in my IG so we don’t get too confused this year. Hannah is always my guinea pig and then I upgrade to a new IG for Ben so it is a little bit different the second time around. 😉

I’m pretty excited! Core D is American History I which brings us up to right before the Civil War and then we follow up next year with the rest of American History. Currently, I’m penciling in a Texas History unit (about 6 weeks) in the summer. We’ll see how things go. Based on what I think our year will look like she should be finishing up this core in mid June so that would fit nicely.

Science looks fun too. We’re continuing our work on Horizons 3 for math. For extras, we have a weekly park day, a monthly elementary outing, piano lessons, and any other fun stuff we can think up.
