P3/4 Second Trimester Done

Hannah has officially completed her second trimester of Sonlight’s P3/4 program!
We are always amazed by her memory and ability to pick up on things around her. She loves to pretend and has a great imagination.

These are the books we’ve read in the first and second trimesters. We glue them into her lapbook after we’ve read them as a way of keeping track of progress and to give her a sense of accomplishment.

Handwriting

Last week she completed the preschool handwriting book I purchased for her which consisted of learning how to write all of her capital letters and numbers 1-10.

She also knows her lower case letters by sight and we are working on the sounds of the letters in our everyday conversations. I purchased the LeapFrog Letter Factory DVD and we have had the fridge letters for awhile. So I think she’s picking this up mostly by osmosis. She writes her name well by herself and will do other writing if I tell her the order of the letters.

Here are some pictures from the handwriting book:

Bible

She’s really good a memorizing scripture. She knows quite a few verses and its mostly our failing that she doesn’t know more because I have to look up the ones she knows to help her review them. 😉
We read from The Jesus Storybook Bible and a couple other children’s bibles almost every night. All of the kids really like that time.

Music/Dance

We tried a dance class this time around and she has been doing that for about 8 weeks with a couple left. I think she enjoys it, but we haven’t gotten a lot of response from her about what she is doing in class. When I asked her if she would rather do dance or music she chose music. So she’ll do a music class again for the first part of the summer. Maybe I’ll look into an art class after that.

She’s been getting really good at painting and has moved on from water colors to regular paints. We have to keep these away from Benjamin though. 🙂

  1. WOW! It’s hard to believe she’s only 3. You are really going to have to be pro-active for her when she reaches school age if you don’t home school her. You should talk to Christina about Audrey and her school situation. She also is performing way above grade level. C has found her another school for next year that will allow her to work at or above level as she progresses. Sure wish those schools had been available when my kids were growing up. Keep up the good work, Hannah!!!!
