18 weeks of Preschool

Joel is scooting right along. He is sitting for longer books and will repeat his bible verses for me most of the time. He is starting to be much more interested in writing. He is also learning lots of stuff from his siblings and Ipad time.

We are still reading through the Read to Me Bible. Will start in on the scheduled one when we are finished. We read one or two poems from Poems and Prayers for the Very Young each week.

This is a list of the books we read in the last six weeks. Many of them are in compilations so we don’t have all of the actual books, just lots of big ones to lug around. Usually after I read the scheduled reading for the day, Joel wants me to read him one that he picks. I have a great collection of Scholastic stories that are read out loud on DVD and many times we will watch the corresponding video after reading the stories.

Our Science book is the Flip Flap Body Book and our social studies one is What Do People Do All Day, we usually do one or two of these a week.

He also has a maze book and an early learning workbook that he will do pages out of while the others have seat work. I have him working through a scissors skill book even though he doesn’t like it much, but it is good for his little finger muscles to get some practice.

He, of course, gets to tag along to all the fun stuff his siblings are doing so gets lots and lots of extracurriculars. We have park day once a week and he was promoted to an actual class (instead of childcare) during Rangers on Wednesday nights. He also moved into the preschool Sunday School class. We had a little 4 yo move in next door and they have become best buddies. He gets to have his friend over or go over to his house about once a week. It is nice for him to have a friend his age that doesn’t involve Hannah and Benjamin.
