5th 6 Weeks of Core A

Ginny finished up week 30 at the end of August. We’ll wrap up the last 6 weeks and go straight into B+C for her 4th grade year.

For bible, Ginny is following along with Hannah’s bible reading plan for Girl’s Ministry, but we also had the end of our alphabet verses for her memory work. We also read selections from Egermeier’s Bible Story Book each day.

For history, we continued with Living Long Ago and The Usborne Children’s Encyclopedia. We also have missionary stories from I Heard Good News Today

Read alouds have been going well. We finished Little House in the Big Woods, read The Light At Tern Rock and Beezus and Ramona and started The Story of Dr. Dolittle as well as selections from Five True Dog Storeis. And we also have some Curious George. We also read poetry selections from The Llama Who Had No Pajama and The Arnold Lobel Book of Mother Goose

Ginny finished up Horizons math 2 and we went straight into math 3. She is struggling with her math facts so we do flash cards once or twice a week to try to get faster.

For language we have a weekly spelling list, grammar in Explode the Code 4, vocabulary in Wordly Wise A, and cursive with HWT. She has been reading through The Beginner’s Bible. She also read Surprises and Pompeii: Buried Alive. She also has a creative assignment each week.

In Science, we are still letting Ginny tag along with Joel in Science A. We have The Usborne Children’s Encyclopedia as our spine. We also read Tagpoles and Frogs and Eggs and Chicks. And we have some experiments and videos to watch each week.

Extras are lots of fun. Ginny and Joel are doing piano lessons and doing fairly well. All the kids do karate two days a week. We had a VBS with Active Love in July that the kids all had fun with. We attended PawPaw’s memorial and Gram’s birthday party. We got a new puppy named Samwise and Ginny is in charge of feeding him. Ginny got to go to church camp in July and we also had the Henry reunion in Wisconsin as well as the Diltz gathering in Tennessee. Fun times!
