2nd 6 Weeks of 6th Grade

Benjamin is done with 12 weeks of 6th grade!

We were still finishing up Hannah’s bible reading merit for our morning devotional time and then Benjamin has a weekly chapter from International Children’s Bible Field Guide, a weekly memory verse, and adds stickers to his timeline book on Fridays.

In history/social studies, we are still working through Story of the World: Ancient Times and also use Usborne Encyclopedia of World History as a supplement. We were mostly in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. Benjamin does a current event assignment on Fridays with World Kids magazine.

Read Alouds this unit were The God King, and Beyond the Desert Gate (I hadn’t read that one). Our poetry book for the year is Favorite Poems Old and New

In language, he has spelling with Sequential Spelling 3, grammar with Keys to Good Language 6, vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 6, a cursive assignment, and a creative assignment each week.

Benjamin has had some fun readers (books he reads to himself). This unit he read Theras and His TownGreek MythsMystery of the Roman Ransom, and started The Bronze Bow

Out science main spines are What’s Science All About? and Chemically Active. He has been doing some chemistry and making some crystals. We seem to be having a little better success than when Hannah did this year, but still do not really like this experiment book very much.

Math is Horizons 6. Ben for the most part does well in math.

Benjamin’s extras include weekly Royal Rangers and karate. He plays online games with his friends almost every day after his schoolwork is done but on Tuesdays they actually get together in person. What? He is our tech man at church and is a good helper when we have events at Connections. He is also very sweet with little guy. We usually squeeze in some family time. In November, Gram came for a visit and Benjamin turned 12 and had a gaming party with buddies. We went to Arkansas with the Diltz clan for a Thanksgiving vacation. We spent Christmas week with Gram and Christmas day at the Millers in Kerrville. Fun times!
