Halfway Through 8th Grade

We managed to stay on task after the rush of the holidays. Got 6 weeks done in 2 months. We are halfway and looking at being done around the end of July.

For bible we do a family devotion first in the morning. For 2022, we’ll be working through the whole bible using The Story. Then Hannah does her own devotion time and school readings after that. She is reading a devotional book called Finding Truth and she has memory passages each week.

In history, Hannah is still in The Story of Science: Newton at the Center. She read The Clockwork Universe and Longitude. She started The Mystery of the Periodic Table. She does current events by writing a summary of a current new article in World Teen. She also still adds info to her timeline book on Fridays.

During this unit, she read Bell Prater’s Boy, The Outlaws of Sherwood, Treasure Island, and Fish in a Tree. She started Shakespeare’s Secret and Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Her poetry selections are from The National Geographic Book of Poetry.

In language, Hannah has vocabulary with Wordly Wise 3000, Book 8, cursive practice, and a creative assignment each week. She usually likes writing and gets into the various assignments.

Hannah is still having fun with her science experiments. They are laid out nicely and use common household items. So that has been less stressful for me as well.

Hannah is working through Horizons Pre-Algebra this year. Still making steady progress.

Extras are the best! Hannah has weekly Royal Rangers and karate twice a week. She typically works her job one morning a week and makes up school for that day during other times. She leads our worship time at church weekly and helps with all the events at Connections and Active Love Church. We had a last trip to 6 Flags and a vacation trip to St. Thomas. We survived a 5th year of snow on the ground in Waco. Haha. Hannah and Nate both had birthdays and Hannah got to go with Nate to a Daddy Daughter Dance the weekend of Valentine’s Day. Gram and Diltz and Millers came up for Joel’s bday party and we drove down for Lilly’s.
