3rd 6 Weeks

It’s already time to update again . . . wow! Core: We fought through the sickness in the house and finished week 18 last week (well, before Monday morning). One of the benefits of homeschooling is that even though Hannah had a couple days off, she wasn’t “behind” when we got back to it. This puts us halfway through the… (more…)

Second 6 Weeks

We’re continuing to move along with school despite some of the distractions the foster kids bring to the home. Hannah just finished her 12th week of P4/5. We had a week off when the kids were in Texas and we’ll probably have some time off this upcoming week as my parents are coming for a visit. Base P4/5: Continuing with… (more…)

First 6 weeks

I’m learning that the school around here goes in quarters. Our foster daughter missed the first quarter of this year, but got a report card for the second quarter. When I was in school we had “6 weeks”. There were 3 six weeks in the fall and 3 in the spring (with respective reporting for each one). The only reason… (more…)

P4/5 Book Images

Are here

Starting P4/5

Hannah has gone twice through the P3/4 curriculum that we started in February. Nanny Kathy usually does the read alouds in the morning while I do the teaching in the afternoon and Nate does bible and sometimes helps with science/social studies. We talked about whether we should wait until January, but we’re all ready to move on. So we are… (more…)

2nd time through P3/4 Trimester II

Hannah just finished round two of trimester 2 last week. We hit some of the fairy tales that she really likes, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella. She’s definitely all girl. Loves to dance and sing and twirl and wear dresses and dress up like a princess. The third trimester books tend to be a bit… (more…)

2nd Time through P3/4 First Trimester

Hannah has finished the first seven weeks of P3/4 again. She’s been continuing her read aloud times with our nanny in the morning. She doesn’t seem to mind the repetition. They would almost always read more than the one scheduled story anyway so she’s probably read all of the P3/4 books at least 4 or 5 times already. Kathy has… (more…)

P3/4 Done

Hannah is completing her first time through P3/4 this week. We’ve completed gluing all of her read aloud pictures into her lapbook. And she had a good time showing it off to daddy. Based on some suggestions at the Sonlight forum, we are going to go through the Core again instead of moving on to the next one. I’ll be… (more…)

P3/4 Second Trimester Done

Hannah has officially completed her second trimester of Sonlight’s P3/4 program! We are always amazed by her memory and ability to pick up on things around her. She loves to pretend and has a great imagination. Language Arts These are the books we’ve read in the first and second trimesters. We glue them into her lapbook after we’ve read them… (more…)

1st Trimester Completed

We finished the first trimester of Sonlight P3/4 this week. In all we read 36 stories, worked on social studies, and science, memorized 6 bible verses, did some handwriting, and did lots of crafts and extra activities. Our potato experiment seems to be going slowly, not sure if its doing what it’s supposed to. Hannah starts her first dance class… (more…)
